The laboratory provides a wide range of interventional procedures, including coronary angiography, percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI), right and left heart catheterization, peripheral and renal vascular interventions, transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI), atrial septal defect (ASD) and patent foramen ovale (PFO) closure, mitral balloon valvuloplasty, and alcohol septal ablation.
When clinically indicated, invasive physiological assessments such as fractional flow reserve (FFR) are performed. Diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including pericardiocentesis and endomyocardial biopsy, are also carried out.
Our laboratory performs an average of 3,000 coronary angiographies and 2,000 percutaneous coronary interventions annually. The number of primary percutaneous coronary interventions exceeds 500 procedures per year.
In addition, approximately 30 right and left heart catheterizations, more than 100 peripheral and renal interventions, more than 50 TAVI procedures, more than 25 ASD/PFO closure and mitral balloon valvuloplasty procedures, and more than 10 alcohol septal ablation procedures are performed annually.
The number of pericardiocentesis procedures exceeds 50 per year.
The laboratory also performs the implantation of temporary and permanent pacemakers, implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs), and cardiac resynchronization therapy defibrillators (CRT-Ds).
On average, approximately 100 electrophysiological studies, 50 catheter ablation procedures, 100 temporary pacemaker implantations, 120 permanent pacemaker implantations, and 90 ICD/CRT-D implantations are performed annually.
Three-dimensional electroanatomical mapping and intracardiac navigation systems are utilized during electrophysiological studies and ablation procedures. These technologies are used in the diagnostic evaluation of cardiac arrhythmias and in the planning and performance of catheter ablation procedures.
