Anaesthesiology

In 1982, two anesthesia machines were acquired and general anesthesia applications started in two operating rooms with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Erol İçel, one assistant and two nurses. Starting with 4 operating rooms in the Kepez Service Building, the department expanded over the years and with the opening of the hospital building and additional service buildings in the campus area in 1997, the total number of operating rooms reached 18. With the opening of the ambulatory surgery center in 2005, the number increased to 22. Since 2019, with 5 in Block B, 20 in Block A and 5 in the Day Surgery Center, a total of 30 operating rooms provide anesthesia to approximately 45,000 patients annually. The Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) within the department has been providing services since 2010 with 6 beds in Block A and since 2018 with 4 beds in Block B. The department is equipped with central gas and waste systems, modern anesthesia machines and monitors, and successfully performs all types of invasive and non-invasive monitoring, general and regional anesthesia techniques, peripheral nerve blocks, and sedation.
