  • The 15-year medium-term development process of our Department, which was established in 1991, was carried out by Prof. Dr. Ümit KARAYALÇIN, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kemal BALCI, Assoc. Dr. Hasan ALTUNBAŞ and Asst. Assoc. Dr. The standard academic staff consisting of Ramazan SARI has been established. In addition to routine training staff before and after graduation, he opened the first Diabetic Patient Education Master's Program in Turkey and prepared a basic plan for Diabetic Patient Education and care. During this period, he trained 5 Endocrinology and Metabolic Diseases Specialists. Our team, which attaches importance to scientific research, has been enriched and successfully represented with papers presented at European and World Congresses, and 126 articles have been published in international journals affiliated with SCI. In our Endocrine Polyclinic, an average of 1800-2000 treatments and follow-ups are performed per month, and quality healthcare services are provided to patients with diabetes, obesity, thyroid diseases, hyperlipidemia, osteoporosis and other specific endocrine diseases. In addition, the most appropriate treatment service is provided to thyroid patients within the framework of multidisciplinary treatment with the Thyroid Council held every week, together with Endocrine Surgeons, Nuclear Medicine Specialists and Pathologists.

  • The Department of Nephrology is one of our most established branches of science, established at the same time as our university. It plays a leading role in clinical nephrology, dialysis, hypertension, kidney and kidney-pancreas transplantation in our country and in the world. Currently, there are 4 faculty members working in the science department, including 3 professors and 1 associate professor. 2-4 Internal Medicine specialists are trained for nephrology sub-specialty training. Training is also provided to Nephrology assistants or Internal Medicine specialists who apply from different parts of our country in order to increase their knowledge and experience. There are 25 permanent machines in the Hemodialysis Unit. Our country's leading intensive care dialysis service is also provided, providing service with 2-4 machines. The Hemodialysis Center of our Department is one of the largest reference centers in our country in terms of patient capacity. Peritoneal Dialysis Unit is one of the most established units that laid the foundations of peritoneal dialysis practice in our country. Department of Nephrology provides outpatient services to around 100 patients a day in clinical nephrology, hypertension and kidney-kidney/pancreas transplantation. Our science department is one of the largest centers in Europe in terms of quantity and quality in kidney transplantation, which has been the mission and justified pride of our university since 1978. Again, kidney-pancreas transplantation was initiated at our university for the first time in our country, and the Department of Nephrology played a decisive role in the establishment and maintenance of our country's largest kidney-pancreas transplant program.

Established in 2003, our department of Rheumatology outpatient clinics provide inpatient services. It works with a faculty member and 3 specialist physicians specializing in Rheumatology. 1 type B project is being carried out, and phase 3 studies, observation studies and academic studies are also being carried out.
